Welded Wire Wall
MSE Plus Welded Wire Wall Systems

The MSE Plus Welded Wire Wall System was originally developed as a structurally equivalent, lower-priced alternative to precast walls in areas with excessive soil settlement and for applications with budgetary constraints or when the appearance of the structure is unimportant. The structural principles and performance characteristics of a wire-faced MSE structure are identical to those of a concrete-faced wall, and the system is used extensively in the mining industry and for the construction of temporary earth retention structures. The system is extremely economical and easy to build due to the substantial reduction of material, equipment and labor requirements.

A recent and innovative adaptation of the MSE Plus Wire Wall System is for custom sculpted shotcrete walls. These sculpted-finish wire walls combine the economy and construction speed of a wire wall with the aesthetic flexibility and visual impact provided by today’s handcrafted sculpting techniques. The system was first utilized on the highway widening project at the entrance to Yosemite National Park where the visual appearance of the walls received the highest priority by historical preservation authorities. A number of new MSE Plus Welded Wire Walls were built along the park entrance and subsequently coated with colored shotcrete and sculpted by hand to identically match the original hand-placed stone walls that were built at the beginning of the 20th century. Following the success and critical acclaim of the Yosemite project, SSL Custom Sculpted Walls have found increasing use for historical and environmentally sensitive projects in numerous states.
